You Are Not Behind. You Are Buried.
We get one life. One precious, god-given time here on earth.
Will you live it fully, listening to those seedlings of desire that were planted in you? Or will you ignore those desires in duty to something else? Often that "something else" feels all-consuming. A job, a family to feed, or a home to tend to. As if it must be one or the other, either/or. The desire vs. the duty. Isn't it true that both could exist?
Duty calls you to the point of exhaustion. And the rest of those depleted hours are spent numbing in some way. Scrolling, drinking, binging. Name your numb-of-choice.
Your duty is overriding your health. And your desires are getting buried so deep you've almost stopped hearing them. The desire that sometimes whispers to you. You might crave creativity or to pursue some entrepreneurial idea you're good at but can't see how it fits into the current landscape of your life. Yet the soul nudges remain. They sneak up on you often, especially when you see others allowing that to take up space in their lives.
When you notice it getting buried deep, maybe it's a passion project, a spark of inspiration about a new business endeavor. Sometimes there is a layer of guilt that sits on top of the longing. An invisible shame that drags you down, a constant low-grade regret that remains unspoken.
Oh how I wish you knew how common this is. As soon as you understand you are not alone, your shame melts. And in that crack, there is space. Just enough to take a small step in the direction of your desire. One article, a voice note of a future podcast topic, a mindmap of ideas. Then you feel it. Something greater than you takes over and flows through you.
Your next divine duty is to continually show up to this desire. And follow the energy.
