For over 15 years, I’ve led people and companies through goal-setting exercises during this season. It’s always been a favorite time of year for me. There is something about that fresh start and a blank slate that frees us up to imagine our best life and put plans in place to get there.

But lately, my approach has shifted slightly because, here’s what I’ve learned about goal setting…

All of the sudden, the year has blurred by. So when it's time to think about next year, most people either dive straight into planning their goals or avoid it completely. But there's a step in between that almost everyone skips. A step that can determine whether the goals you set in 2026 will stick, feel doable, and create momentum.
